"Eden in Belize" - a RESORT you could call "HOME"
Eden in Belize is the culmination of a world-wide quest by the Toth brothers to find a pristine and bountiful, and un-regimented location like the America of 1955 when they arrived there, from Hungary, in search of Freedom. Tired from travels, Julius had almost given up hope when he walked out on the bluff near San Ignacio Belize, overlooking the Macal River. Below was an incredible vista - the mountains of San Ignacio, the town of Cristo Rey in the valley, the river winding around the bluff, the jungle to the southwest, and a wind-swept hillside rising to the north west.
Instantly, he knew this was it. An abandoned house stood on the promontory, almost overtaken by the jungle. Julius hired workers to clear the vines with machetes and the next morning rode down to Cristo Rey and looked up. The house on a breathtaking Central American Plateau, rising from the jungle, surrounded by the river (remember the scene from the animated movie UP!) sent a chill down his spine. This was to be the site of Eden.
The Toths are not loners - they wanted to share their incredible find with like-minded people, but did not want to destroy the pristine beauty. To design their Resort they hired the Enertia Company, award winning designers of self-sufficient projects. Included in the resort will be a 100 KW wind generator on the peak of the hill behind the promontory, which will supply all electricity - including charging the pollution-free electric vehicles. Instead of cutting paths through the jungle, visitors will travel overhead by zip-line. What motorized traffic is necessary will be by electric Enertia motorcycles or electric vehicles.
Visiting Eden will be an incredible experience - but it is be more than that. It is a chance to feel-out Belize, a country that has less population than most American cities, to see if Belize is the right place for your "Plan B" if you don't like the path your home country is taking.
"Eden-SAFE, Eden-STRONG™ CONDOS, custom designed by the ENERTIA Company
Every Enertia Custom Designed project starts with an On-Site Energy Survey. The Enertia® design philosophy is the site itself can provide all the building and occupants' needs, in perpetuity.
An example is the famous energy-independent JURASSIC PARK Enertia® dwelling/ shop/ office in the hot climate of Alabama that uses cool air piped in from nearby caves for totally natural air-conditioning. Learning from, and using Nature for Energy, is the concept that earned the Enertia Building System the title of MODERN MARVEL. and the Most Innovative Structure of the Twentieth Century.
Award-winning designer Michael Sykes personally walked the EDEN project hilltop site in San Ignacio, Belize, with his experienced eye-for-energy. Unfortunately no caves here (although there are extensive caves in the mountains of Belize). But there was a steady 24 hour breeze coming from the North East.
The doubled West wall, which serves as the thermal chimney, is laced with steel struts giving it the strength of a 24 inch solid wall, to secure the Multi-story condo to the heavy poured concrete foundation, to withstand the worst fury nature can throw at it from Hurricanes to Typhoons. The Condo is totally electrically independent from the San Ignacio power grid which will undoubtably be out during a hurricane event.
Sykes made use of this breeze in his condo design to create a thermal-chimney combined with Venturi effect, for natural air conditioning In addition, for the Belize dry season- strategically placed waterfalls swept by the breeze create an evaporative cooling effect. A 100KW wind generator placed at the high-point of the property supplements the buildings veranda-mounted solar Photovoltaic arrays for year-round, free electricity.
